Artist Bio for Clark James
Clark James is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from northwestern North Carolina in the tradition of Americana and folk. His influences include Nickel Creek, The Avett Brothers, Nahko & Medicine for the People, Tommy Emmanuel, and many others.
Clark began studying guitar at the age of 14, taking lessons from a family friend and local bluegrass musician. Within 6 months of receiving his first guitar, Clark was on stage performing for his church’s worship band. He quickly began taking on leadership roles performing for the main congregation and his youth group. Clark is now studying guitar, songwriting, and music production at Berklee College of Music with plans to graduate in May 2026.
During his time at Berklee, Clark has performed his own original music for the Pro Music Showcase and Arranging for Songwriters Showcase. Notable teachers Clark has worked with during his time as a student at Berklee include Tim Miller, Rick McLaughlin, and Pat Pattison.
In addition to music, Clark has also studied yoga and psychology in depth, completing his yoga teacher training certificate from Shoshoni Yoga Retreat in 2012 and certification from the Gestalt Equine Institute of the Rockies in 2021.
Upon completing his degree at Berklee, Clark has plans to move to Nashville, TN with his fiancé and miniature Australian Shepherd, Sadie to pursue a career as a professional songwriter.
